Nicolas Hamel aka Gouky has released the MDStudio on GitHub. The project is still in development but the MDStudio is an code assembler for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. This project was made to help assist developers who want to create games for the Mega Drive/Genesis. It is built off of Visual Studio 2017 and uses DGen as an emulator to help with the back end. Though a new back end is coming out which will allow for debugging on real hardware. This part however and other areas are still a work in progress, and the overall project is under heavy development going forward. So save your work often… Gouky also received help on developing this project from the creator of TangleWood, Matt Phillips from Big Evil Corporation. If you are looking into or possibly making games for the Mega Drive/Genesis. This might be the tools for you.
